Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton "The saint of my birthday"

Elizabeth Ann seton was born on August 28, 1774 and died on January 4, 1821.

She is the patronage saint of in-law problems, catholic school, seafarers, widows, death of parents, and against the death of children.

Saint. Elizabeth Ann Seaton is celebrated on January 4th, the day of her death.

She was the first native born American to be canonized a saint by the Chruch.

In 1794 Elizabeth married a young wealthy man named William seaton. William died of tuberculosis while in Italy. Elizabeth's one consolation was that he had recently awakened to the things of God.

Elizabeth captivated everyone by her kindness, patience, good sense, wit, and courtesy while she was in Italy. Over the couple months she was becoming interested in the Church.

Elizabeth lost her mother at a young age and felt comfort in the idea that the blessed Virgin Mary a was her true mother.

On March 25, 1809, Elizabeth Seton pronounced her vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, binding for one year. From that point on she was called Mother seaton.

She died at 46 only 16 years after becoming catholic.

Dear Lord , you blessed Elizabeth Seton with many gifts of grace so that she would spend her life devoted to you and your people. Through her example may we learn to express our love for you in love of others. Amen.
