Relationship #3 February Week 2

Hey team, we had A BIG....BIG Sunday!!

  • Every week since Christmas, we have had record Sundays, for the church and Kidspoint!
  • Super Bowl...oops, can't call it that, Big Game day was no different.
  • Here's the growth curb since the holidays
That's a whole lot of blessings right there!

A very percentage of churches are not growing in North America. Studies tend to say that 80 to 95% of them are not growing!

We've grown 33,5% over 5 weeks here at Lifepoint!

With all these new families and kids joining us, let's all jump on board for the best of blessings this weekend : serving! I wouldn't want you to miss the opportunity to be a blessing to someone else. You can talk to a friend about your service!

NOT ON OUR WATCH

Last week's message by our invited guest, Pastor Clayton King was excellent.

Did you know that 95% of Christ followers have never led another person to Christ and 90% have never even tried? Pastor Clayton King encourages us to break that pattern through the biblical account of Andrew who, after spending a day with Jesus, finds his brother, Simon Peter, and tells him to “come and see.” Each of us can “be an Andrew” in our daily lives by simply talking to people where we live and work about what we know and inviting them to where we belong.

Take some time to either re-listen to the message or dig a little deeper. The Spirit of God wants to do something in our lives, yours and mine.
  1. My Superbowl winner prediction was : Patriots will win, by 3 points, 31-28. I was off.

Your team leader or coach is looking for someone willing to invest in our kids and in our teams. We have a meeting for coaches and team leaders on Tuesday, February 21, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm

Childcare is provided.

I want to offer an opportunity for someone to serve on that evening.

Send me your willing answer by email at scote@lifpoint.org

IMPORTANT UPCOMING DATES

It is OUR word of the year!
  • Pst Shawn and Jennifer have baby number 1 on the way. Pray for them.
  • We've added many new families to our campus lately. Pray they get connected soon.
  • Pray for your team mates kids' that they choose to follow Christ and have a very "boring" testimony : "I met Christ when I was young and followed Him all my life!"
  • Pray for my father. He's 90 and in his last months (even if we've been saying that for a couple of years now!). I'll see him this week end. Same thing for my mother. They miss their son (he's such a good 48 year kid!).
  • I will also mention my sister who is now battling breast cancer. I believe in miracles. Pray for healing and courage in the battle.
  • Kelsey Adler(Quest K-1) is getting married in April and is feeling really stressed, scared and overwhelmed with how to move forward (look for new job, stay at this job and see how it plays out, etc).Let's pray for her.
  • Evelyn Hoyle-Steele (TREK) has undergone surgery this week. Let's pray for a good recovery.

I will not be in the area this weekend. I'm heading to Montreal with Chantal this Wednesday to visit my elderly parents and sisters. I will also be preaching in a youth group Saturday night as well as the adult congregation on Sunday morning. I would appreciate your prayers :)

I know the Echeck team will be sad I won't be forgetting my coffee mug at their big kiosk. The TREK 8 AM team will freak out because I won't be coming in screaming and jumping! You DIVE team, you'll survive LOL.

I have entrusted 4 coaches to replace me on Sunday. Let's make sure all teams are ready and able.

3 relationships to build

I had the priviledge to share this thought with our staff a couple of weeks ago. I thought it could be useful to you too :). Here is number 3.

RELATIONSHIP #1 : Friendship
RELATIONSHIP #2 : Cheerleader (or if you prefer Champion!)
RELATIONSHIP #3 : MENTOR

1st LAYER

MINISTRY IS ALL ABOUT PEOPLE, SO WE COACH PEOPLE...

  • We all must learn the "HOW TO BE"
  • BECOMING a man or woman of God before DOING the work of God

2nd LAYER

one on our values is "WE EMPOWER POTENTIAL"

We identify and develop God's purposes in each other.

We follow Paul's sayings to Timothy "by entrusting others". Your Team leader and coach will want to show you new stuff.

3rd LAYER

WE FOLLOW JESUS' EXAMPLE as well as THE DISCIPLES'

  • After the 12 were sent out, "they returned with joy. They said, "Lord, even the demons obey us when we speak in your name." There was the debrief part, their moment of learning relationships. (Luke 10:17)

4th LAYER

The mentor relationship is one where you receive from someone "above" you. Your team leader or coach, or even me. You receive wisdom, love, correction, learning, humility, vision, etc. It is also one where you entrust what you have learned to somebody else "under" you. An S2, another team member for example. You receive, you give. You receive, you give.

Openness, accountability, humility, learning spirit (which is also one of our values, "We have teachable hearts") are all qualities of a mentorship model.

5th LAYER

Be a learner, be a mentor, like Proverbs tells us.

The lips of wise people spread knowledge. But that's not true of the hearts of foolish people. Proverbs 15:7
The things you have heard me say, entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.

A little reminder of some goals that have not changed !!

  1. Become 3 deep in all of our leadership positions by June 30th
  2. Have 1 ready-to-go padawan each by February 28th
  3. Effective communication by February 15th
  4. Recruit 30 NEW volunteers by March 31st (we already have 6 of them in our pipeline from last weekend's VO)

1. Be there on time for rallies in 2017

2. Talk to a parent every week...and say something positive about their kid!

3. Pray with one another

4. Bring a friend to check out what you do in your service

Training soon!
