Augusto Pinochet overthrew Salvador Allende, President of Chile, on September 11, 1973. In his first three years of regime, you arrested about 130,000 people whom then he had tortured. In 1974 Pinochet became the head of Chile's military government. He was the military leader for 16 years

Augusto Pinochet would be the most related to Power and Authority 8 Themes of World History. He was the President of Chile, and acted much like a dictator. Pinochet was appointed to be the army commander just 18 days before coup, which he planned to lead. *A coup is when armed forces come together and attempt to over throw the government* He was also named the head of victorious junta's governing council.

Augusto Pinohet caused lots of pain to others while during his region of power. Lots were tortured and killed under his power.
