1912: There are already 560 offset presses in operation in the United States. By the 1930s, it is the form of Lithography.

1922: Book and type designer William Addison Dwiggirs comes up with the term "Graphics Design".

1950: The Xerox 914 is the first successful plain copier. It can make six copies per minute had been preceded in 1949 by the Model A: the first commercial Xerographic copier.

1972: The Roland 800 is the first sheetfed offset press with an integrated ink system. It can print up to 10000 sheets per hour. It is one of the highlights of the drupe 1972 show.

1975: The first laser printers, such as the IMB 3800 and Xerox 9700, hit the market. They are expensive but useful for applications such as cheque printing.

1977: Benny Landa founds Indigo, a research company that licenses inks to other manufactuers. This changes in the mid- 80's when the company develops ElectroInk, a liquid ink that the company uses itself in the E-Print 1000 digital Press (1993).

1984: The Apple Macintosh is a ground-breaking computer in which it combines a user inter face and a mouse with a price tag $2990. (It would be over $5000 today.)

1993: The Indigo E- Print 100 isa digital press that uses ElectrolInk, a kind of fluid ink, which it's first incarnation can be rubbed off paper. Other systems such as the Xeikon DCp-1 Introduced the same year. In 2002, Indigo is acquired by HP, while Punch Graphic buys Xeikon.

1995: At drupa MAN Roland DruckmaschinenAG launches the ROLAD 900, an innovated large format sheetfed offset press.
