Spike Island Volunteers Weekly Newsletter - 1st April 2017

Dear volunteers, I hope you all enjoy our new newsletter which will go out every Saturday. We will endeavour to include all the highlights of the week from volunteers' exhibits to events, talks and creative cuppas. New exhibition: Giles Round They bow. Curtain. No applause. Andrea Luka Zimmerman Common Ground

Briefing with artists: Giles Round and Andreas Zimmerman - 7th April 2017 4pm to 6pm for all volunteers

We ask all volunteers to please attend the briefing as we will cover the programmed event, the artists will discuss their work exclusively with you and we will also discuss Health and Safety with the technical team. Below is a little taster of what is to come. Preview night will be the evening of our briefing so please stay on and if you would like to volunteer please let me know beforehand.

Gillian Best, a native of Toronto who now lives and works in Bristol, presents a wholly authentic tragicomic portrait of family life as it is buffeted by illness, intolerance, anger, failure and regret. Free for volunteers, booking advised.
Led by artist Éilis Kirby, come and help children and parents play with colour, shape, texture and learn easy ways to create, using simple methods and materials.
Andrea Luka Zimmerman hosts a drop in event with collaborators on her film Estate, a Reverie; David Roberts, Elam Forrester and Lorna Forrester. Free, drop in.

Tuesday 4th April 6-7pm: Visual Arts and the Environment: DIY Documentary with Zoe Moyden and Chris Beetles in the Associate Space

Next Tuesday at 6pm - Join us in the Associate Space with Zoe Moyden and Chris Beetles!

Our volunteer, Zoe Moyden and Chris Bettles from OWL Positive Broadcasting will be sharing what they’ve learned from producing their first independent documentary series, ‘The Secret of Change’. Discover what it was like to live, work and travel on a shoestring across three continents, sharing their insights on the filmmaking process and how they have overcome obstacles to get their production towards the premiere.
