Faculty Focus

Dr. Esther Smidt, Director of TESOL Program & Associate Professor of Languages & Cultures

When we asked Dr. Esther Smidt, "Why do you teach online?" She said, "This is something that's here to stay, and since it's here to stay, I want to be good. I want to do the best I can."

Technology Showcase 2017

This year's Tech Showcase took place on May 10th. With so many great ideas on how to incorporate technology into online teaching, learning, and assessment, we had a great turn out and all learned something new! Below is a brief look at what our presenters taught us!

New in SARA

Map of SARA States/Territories (highlighted in blue)

Participation in SARA allows WCU to offer online courses to students residing in any of the 50 SARA states/territories, and for those students to complete field experience, internships, and clinical placements. We are excited to annouce that there have been two recent additions to SARA! They are the State of Florida, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Coming This Fall...

One Button Studio!

It's as simple as 1, 2, 3.

It's a new, innovative way to record your lectures! You will walk into our One Button Studio, insert your drive into the dock, press the button to start and stop the recording, and then remove your drive when you are finished! Then you take it and edit it the way you want. There's no need to set up lights, microphones, or the camera because it's all ready to go for when you get there!

Stay tuned for the opening date!

Just a reminder, our Recording booth is up and ready to go!

The booth can be reserved between the hours of 9am and 3pm on days when Distance Education Services is open. Recordings can only last for 2 hours on any one day and must end by 3pm.

Email Pat Brander or DISTANCEED@wcupa.edu to book a time to record!
