Physician assisted suicide is the voluntary termination of a life by administration of a lethal substance with the help of a physician.

Greeks and romans

physician assisted suicide traces back and began in ancient Greece and Rome,before Christianity, the suicide was tolerated.Even though the oath of a doctor prohibited them from giving drugs to anyone,many Romans doctors didn't follow through.There was a widespread of voluntary death because they didn't want to suffer anymore so the doctors supported them and gave them the drug to end their life.

reality/right now

Today physician assisted suicide illegal almost everywhere,the prison sentence for this is up to 14 years in the UK and in the USA it varies on states.But there are couple places it is legal : Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Switzerland, and the states of Oregon and Washington.
