we just like food thankfully this class is after lunch

For this assignment we will be creating a mixed media representation of your most appetizing food. It will be a combination of a stylized ink drawing and a realistic representation with colored pencils.

FINAL

PREP 1 - Pressing this button will lead you to a website that will show you five colored pencil techniques. Using the colored pencils on the filing cabinet and the copy paper behind it, please practice these techniques. Also try blending colors. Experiment with them.

PREP 2 - Next, watch this video about a blending technique you might use on this project.

Now we need a picture

Here are a few examples of pictures that won't be helpful to you.

THIS IS TOO SMALL
TOO CLOSE
THIS IS GOOD
TOO MUCH BLANK SPACE

If you find a photo you like, there are ways for us to fix it with cropping.

CROP THEM DOWN
LIKE THIS
THIS IS TOO COMPLICATED, DON'T MAKE IT HARD ON YOURSELF
DON'T MAKE IT TOO SIMPLE
YES, KIND OF.

Assignment 1

BEFORE WEDNESDAY'S CLASS PERIOD UPLOAD YOUR IMAGE ON GOOGLE CLASSROOM. CROP THE IMAGE FIRST.

Look for an image that fits these qualifications. Either use an image that you have create with food, or use the Public Domain Resources on Google Classroom. Maybe have multiple options in case your first one doesn't work out.

Take a screenshot if necessary. Use the 4:5 ratio on the photos app.

Assignment 2

Draw a 1" x 1" grid across your printed image.

Decide a 3" x "3 square near one of the four intersections of thirds.

Using your pixelated version of the image create the color samples by layering colored pencils. Mix all nine colors. We do this practice so we are prepared to work on the final project.

On the same sheet of paper, recreate one 1" x 1" square from your colored section to practice blending and not leaving white speckles throughout the image. You will have to layer colors on top of each other to create depth of color and you may use a blender to get rid of white spots.
