Hello Husky Families,
Happy Fall Friday! Chilly weather is here and I'm enjoying the cooler weather as it means cider mills, pumpkin spice lattes and Halloween! What are your families fall favorites?
It was a great week of learning in the Hill community. At the dinner table, ask your students specific questions about their learning throughout the day. Sometimes asking a vague questions like "what did you do today?" is overwhelming for students because there was so much so it is easier to say...nothing. But we know that is not true. Instead try asking more specific questions such as...
- What are you writing about during writing workshop?
- What book are you reading?
- What is your favorite part of the day? Why?
- What is something your teacher did today that made you laugh/smile?
- What is something you are struggling with right now?
- Who are your best friend(s) at school? Why do you like him/her?
Conversation at the dinner table, in the car on the way to practice, or while walking through the grocery store is a great way to get your child talking and to hear about what is happening each day at school.
In this week's issue of the Husky's Howl, you will find jog-a-thon donation updates, school dance information, parent teacher conference sign up link and more!
Have a great weekend!
Jog-a-thon Fundraiser UPDATE
Thank you so much for all the donations that keep rolling in from the Jog-a-thon. We met our first goal and as promised I "dyed" my hair red for a day. Next up I will get a pie in the face on the morning announcements because we met and exceeded our building benchmark goal of $8000. In fact, right now we are at $10, 500. Please see the pictures below for my red hair, other Jog-a-thon goals and the thermometer keeping track of all our donations. Tune in next week as I will post the video of the pie in the face that will also air on the morning announcements. Remember, we are still working toward a school goal of $18,000 and I will be slimed, $20,000 and the students get a surprise. I know we can do it!
