Born on December 24, 1971 in Puerto Rico.
The son of Nereida Morales, an accountant, and Enrique Martín Negroni, a psychologist. He was the second youngest sibling. His parents divorced when he was two years old and Martin spent much of his childhood shifting between his father's home in the suburbs of University Gardens, a suburban middle-class neighborhood of San Juan, and his paternal grandmother's house nearby. Martin grew up in a Roman Catholic home. He began singing at age six, using wooden kitchen spoons as pretend microphones; he often interpreted songs by Menudo as well as English-language rock groups such as Led Zeppelin, Journey, and REO Speedwagon.
After finishing high school he went off to do television then he quickly found his voice in music and taught himself to sing and become a professional musician.
Acording to him his biggest problem in his career, was his culture shock in america and learning English. Martin once told Rosie O’Donnell that he learned English through Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.
He is known as a Latino and English pop singer. 2006 saw the release of his most popular album "MTV unplugged" Some of his other album include: Sound loaded, Ricky Martin, and A Medio Vivir.
