Rock On at the Hard Rock Riviera Maya

A Real Family Travel Expert's review of the Hard Rock Riviera Maya

I will be perfectly honest. I never thought Hard Rock Hotels were 'family friendly'! When I thought of a Hard Rock Hotel - I though 20-30 somethings partying and rocking it out until all hours of the night!

I was never so excited to be so wrong in my life!

With the Hacienda side of the resort - the families were just like my family! Laughing, splashing, relaxing and having an amazing time! There were family parties in the pool, a rock climbing wall, a cool trampoline bungee / trapeeze stand, restaurants, bars, and more and more and more! If you are looking for a little alone time without the kiddos, find your way over to Heaven. Heaven is the Adults Only side of the resort that is super fun (or super relaxing) for the grown ups to have a vacation too!

THE BEACH

The beach was just what every Mom is looking for in an All Inclusive beach! There is a natural stone break wall that creates a sandy, calm, warm ocean alcove that is perfect for little ones. There is no need to be fearful of a scary undertow and no need to be concerned about the seaweed issues that have plagued Mexico's beaches for some time! There were fish swimming around and you are welcome to borrow the non-motorized water equipment for a day of fun at the beach!

THE ROOMS

The rooms were also fantastic! We were staying in the Heaven side of the resort (adults only), however on the Hacienda side (family side), rooms are laid out identical - just different decor! Beds are comfy and all the amenities a Mom could ask for! The mini-fridge magically refilled itself daily. For a quick drink on the go, there is an in-room liquor dispenser (for the parents of course!) Most rooms boast a gorgeous resort or ocean view. I highly recommend requesting a higher floor in order to avoid having other guests wandering along the paths near the ground floor patios. Room service was excellent! Extremely helpful when you have little people who just gave their all in the pool for the whole day and are a little too tired and cranky to sit in one of the many dining rooms. Mom and Dad don't have to suffer - you can order standard fare (burgers, fries, etc.) and tastier treats like steak or fajitas!

Specifically.... Each room has the following amenities:

  • • All rooms with balcony or terrace & hydro spa tub
  • • Flat-screen TVs
  • • Custom furniture & artwork
  • • KOHLER & Rock Spa® products
  • • Loaded mini bar
  • • Liquor dispenser
  • • Hammocks
  • • Complimentary streaming music
  • • Personal Assistant service available ($)
  • • Free calls to the U.S. & Canada (does not include Alaska or Hawaii)
  • • Free Wi-Fi

THE FOOD

Speaking of food... O M G! There are 11 (yes - ELEVEN) restaurants to choose from! From the quick 'grab and go' selections throughout the resort near the pools (like fries or salad in a cup 'to-go') to fine dining in a steak house (El Toro) - you certainly will not go hungry at this resort!

THE ENTERTAINMENT

You can't be bored at this resort! From the moment you wake up until you finally float off to cloud nine at night - there is always something to do! The kids are endlessly entertained at the many various activities throughout the resort. There are shows after dinner and always a party in the pool every afternoon.

Where else in the Caribbean can you check out an electric guitar, amp and headphones and learn to play the guitar in your room? Lessons are on the television for a self taught journey to becoming your own rock star!!

I think that video pretty much sums it up. And best of all - It's all true! With the $1800 Limitless Resort Credit - there's no excuse not to love this place!
