Employer Newsletter January 2021

Welcome and Happy New Year!

Welcome to the first edition of our Employer Newsletter and Happy New Year! The Fall 2020 semester is officially over and brought with it many challenges. However, we still conducted all of our events and also learned ways to perfect them going forward.

Thank you for choosing the Marilyn Davies College of Business Career Center to assist with your recruiting needs. Our mission is to assist students and alumni with exploring and choosing a major, understanding the importance of and securing experiential learning opportunities (internships) as well as giving back to the community. Students and alumni are assisted with developing effective job search and networking skills which empowers them to utilize their network and resources to pursue their desired career.

INTERNSHIP CORNER

Employer Advantages of Hosting an Intern

Talent Acquisition

  • Employers can be invigorated with fresh talent.
  • Increased Company Exposure: Word of mouth is the best kind of publicity on a college campus, thus exposing more students to your company.

Fiscal Advantages

  • Lower Recruitment Costs: Using actual on-the-job internship performance as a basis for hiring new college graduates not only eliminates costly recruitment activities but also improves personnel selection because you are hiring a known entity.
  • Lower Labor Costs: Interns are highly motivated, qualified, productive and dependable individuals who are usually paid at an hourly rate.
  • Extra Workforce Boost: During periods of higher volume work projects, an intern is an excellent addition to assist on key assignments and increase efficiency.

Engagement

  • Increase Employer Retention: As interns are exposed to actual work environments, their job expectations become more realistic.
  • Diversity: You can manage diversity-oriented projects within your company by supplying talented under-represented students.
