The Counseling Office was able to put together gifts and food for 35 PHS students and 4 Hawthorne students. Thank you to everyone that donated to the process, including Wildhorse Resort and Casino, Yellowhawk Tribal Health, various community members, and PHS and IMESD staff. The FFA group helped out by bagging and delivering two tons of potatoes that were donated.
So far, PHS has had six State Degree Students take and pass the FFA State Degree Test. A special congratulations goes out to Saleen McEntire for being chosen as one of five students in the state to be awarded the Northwest Farm Credit Services award that pays for her dues and registration for the FFA state convention and also a new FFA jacket, as seen above. Great job!
Congratulations to the first semester winners of the Citizenship Cup. The winners for Fall of 2016 are: Freshmen: Rebecca Bower, Madeline Hales, Sarah Powell, and Tanna Stewart; Sophomores: Quinn Doherty, Aspen Garton, Emily Gilsdorf, and Gabe Umbarger; Juniors: Lizzy Evans, Rylee Gentner, Jose Rodriguez, and Abby Williams; Seniors: Hayley Burchard, Haley Greb, Brayden Pulver, and Caleb Schmidt. Great Job and keep up the good work!

Two PHS students and Mr. Dinkel were selected by Oregon UAS Future Farm to attend a multi-day UAS training in December that prepares them for the FAA commercial UAS certification. They are receiving valuable instruction from industry professionals who work in drone engineering, piloting, robotics, imaging, data interpretation, test range management, operations, and more. There are some amazing things happening in Pendleton that many are unaware of. For mroe information on the event, see http://www.futurefarm.tech/dronetraining.

The students at PHS are amazing! This year, Leadership Students at PHS delivered 460 coats to the Salvation Army for needy kids, groups and clubs throughout PHS via Leadership have adopted over 40 area youth to give them a great Christmas (separate from above gifts), and the food drive coordinated by the Leadership students brought in over 5000 canned foods to be donated to local charities! The class competition winner this year for the food drive at PHS was Mrs. Meighan's class. The students, parents, and community of Pendleton really know what it means to give back!
The Junior class was able to attend a career day set up by Mrs. Cooley this year. Students were able to listen to a number of individuals from multiple career paths! The second half of the day was filled with field trips to locations such as the Courthouse, police station, Newly Weds Foods, Wildhorse Resort and Casino, Interpath Laboratories, East Oregonian, Creative Signs, and the Pendleton Fire Department.
The play that was intended to run on December 7th, 8th, and 10th only ran for one day. There are plans in the works to be able to again offer the play in January. Please refer to the website for more information as it comes available. The PHS website address is http://hs.pendleton.k12.or.us/home
