The black and tan coonhound is a large determined hunting dog. They are a cross between a Bloodhound and the Black and Tan Foxhound. They love long walks and bigger family’s. They love heartwarming attention and they don’t like to be left alone. They are great with people and calm with other animals. They have fun floppy ears and are great to relax with. Their life span is from 10 to 12 years and they are very laid back with barking and exercise. Their weight is from 50-75 pounds and their height is 23 to 27 inches. The Black and tan coonhounds where officially recognized by the AKC in 1945.

While hunting they are very patient and calm while their waiting for the prey. The Black and Tan Coonhound is believed to be derived from Bloodhounds and Foxhounds. Bloodhounds and Foxhounds are also very patient and calm when hunting for prey. Having a Black and Tan Coonhound is a great dog to have if you have a big family with little kids or you want a loving and caring dog.
