Sport management students connect with Baylor Associate Athletic Director
Mr. Drew Pittman, Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Events at Baylor University and one of the leading risk and security management practitioners in the United States, visited students in the Sport Event and Facilities (SM 642) course, taught by Dr. John Miller. Topics discussed included managing the risks of conducting intercollegiate sports events during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr. Pittman highlighted the importance of communication and collaboration with others in intercollegiate and professional athletics to ensure the safety of spectators, game personnel, players, and coaches. While he could not categorically state that attendance would increase at games this fall, he exhibited optimism. The opportunity for the students to ask Mr. Pittman questions about the field of sport event and facility management provided them insights and a chance to network with a highly regarded practitioner, which is part of the mission of the College of Business and Economic Development.
