Pastors' Corner

Week Of Worship

Week Of Worship

This week sees the Middle School come together for chapel each morning. Our theme for the chapels this week is 'Real Love’ exploring the love of God for each one of us. Our speaker for this week is Pastor Rangi Eiao who is the chaplain of one of our sister schools here in Sydney, Macarthur Adventist School. Each year, we as a school, set aside two weeks, one for the Junior School and one for the Middle School to focus our school community of the faith journey.

Year 7 & 8 STEM Day

Our Year 7 & 8 STEM Day is designed to give students the opportunity to solve real world problems using Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

How can you stop an intruder from entering your home? That was the driving question students answered during their STEM days last week.

In the morning session, students were given design time, stemmies (STEM money) and access to a STEM store, where various materials were bought to make their intruder alarm. Students then spent the rest of the day – constructing, testing and adjusting their intruder detention system. By the end of the day all groups had constructed successful intruder alarms that warned home owners when a model door was opened.

Mountain Bike Group Rides

Term 1 2018 has seen two successful mountain bike rides for our students and parents. The first ride took place early in the term at the Westleigh "H20" trail. With our biggest riding group to date, the riders were split in two groups and completed 10 kilometres of riding technical single trail. Trail features included downhill sections with bends, jumps and rocky sections to navigate as well as some tough climbs. The second ride for the term involved an adventure around the Hornsby "Old Mans Valley" trail network. Another large group took on the recently reopened trails, which include some high speed sections, steep corners, jumps and the rollercoaster-like single trail called "Lava Flow". It is awesome to see the student's skill level, fitness and technique improving with each ride. The students are looking forward to more riding events in term two!
