It's that time again, Islanders... the semester is coming to a close and final exams are quickly approaching! Don't worry - we're here to help! Here, we've compiled everything you need to know, from exam times and study spots to events to score free food and help you destress!


Not sure when your exam is? The final exam period runs December 6-12. Final grades will be posted on S.A.I.L. between December 17-20.

All current students are encouraged to evaluate their instructors by completing a course evaluation. The survey period will remain open online through Friday, December 6. Survey results are anonymous and used to help faculty enhance and improve their courses.

Center for Academic Student Achievement

VISIT CASA: Want someone to proofread that final paper? Need help preparing for the big exam? For no additional charge, you can take advantage of the services provided by our Center for Academic Student Achievement (CASA). See the link below to learn about available tutoring, supplemental instruction, academic mentorships, and the Writing Center.

Mary and Jeff Bell Library

The Mary and Jeff Bell Library will be open 24 hours a day Monday-Wednesday, Dec. 2 – 11, with extended hours Thursday and Friday, Dec. 12 - 13.

The Mary and Jeff Bell Library provides a Super Quiet Study Room on the building's second floor in Room 216B. This area can be used by library users looking for a noiseless environment.

Students can use the library's computer labs and private study rooms. Each floor contains white boards and smart boards, open study areas for individuals and groups, and knowledgeable staff ready to assist you with your questions. Students can visit the Circulation Desk with their SandDollar$ ID to reserve one of 15 study rooms.

Ear plugs are also available at public service locations (Ask Us, Circulation, and Media) for those desiring a little extra quiet time to study.

You can even wish your fellow Islanders luck by writing on the Board of Motivation!

GROW Grad Suite

Graduate students can take advantage of the designated quiet area in GROW's large study room at the Mary and Jeff Bell Library, Room 220. Grad students can also reserve a study room in advance. Free coffee is available, or you can bring your own K-Cup to brew! GROW will provide complimentary snacks, flavored coffees, and hot cocoa all day for graduate students as they prepare for their exams.

Faculty Center

Need a quiet place to study that's in close proximity to Starbucks? Try the open study area located in the Faculty Center.

University Center

The University Center is a great place to grab some food to fuel you through those study sessions, as well as a place where you can purchase blue books, scantrons, and other supplies you may need for your exams. The Rotunda and Tejas Lounge make for great areas to meet with group members, classmates, or friends to get some extra study time in!

Dr. Hector P. Garcia Plaza

Take your study session outside and get some fresh air while studying in Dr. Hector P. Garcia Plaza!

O'Connor Building

The breakout rooms located on the 2nd floor of the O'Connor Building are the perfect place for individual or group study sessions!

Center for Instruction

The Center for Instruction courtyard is another great area to get a study session in!


Amidst the chaos that can accompany final exams, it's important to pace yourself and take the occasional break when needed. That's why we've got a great lineup of opportunities for you to unwind between study sessions so that you can maximize your success!

Monday, Dec. 2nd and Tuesday, Dec. 3 – Labyrinth Walk

2 - 4 p.m. (Mon) and 10 a.m. - noon (Tues) | Center for Instruction Courtyard

Walk the labyrinth before finals for peace and a meditative mindset. Hosted by I-TEAM.

Wednesday, Dec. 4th – Late Night Breakfast

9:30 p.m. – Midnight | UC Rotunda

Kick-off finals week with free food and karaoke at the Late Night Breakfast. Check out games in the Breakers game room or paint your own mug with CAB!

Thursday, Dec. 5th – Books and Bagels

10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. | Mary and Jeff Bell Library

Enjoy free bagels, cocoa, and coffee with a chance to win a Keurig and other goodies from the Islander Alumni Association.

Thursday, Dec. 5th – Smash the Island: Super Smash Bros tournament

Noon – 4 p.m. | University Center Breakers Gameroom

Join Breakers for the final Super Smash Bros tournament of the year!

Thursday, Dec. 5th – Paws on the Island

1 – 4 p.m. | University Center Lonestar Ballroom

Join the University Counseling Center and Bell Library to destress with pets, paws, and wagging tails.

All Day | Dec. 6th – 12th

University Center Legacy Ballroom

Legacy Ballroom will be a lounge space for students to hangout and de-stress with a pop-up tent, coloring pages, bubble wrap, snacks, scantrons, pencils, and soft music.

Friday, Dec. 6th – Cookies and Coffee

10 a.m. – noon | University Center Legacy Ballroom

Brought to you by the SGA – grab a cup of joe and a cookie on your way to your first exam. We’ll have scantrons and blue books and pencils, oh my!

Monday, Dec. 9th – Donut Stress, Do Your Best

12:30 – 2:30 p.m. | University Center Tejas Lounge

Come decorate your own donut! Enjoy some music and coloring pages while you de-stress. Because stressed is just desserts backwards, so we got you covered!

Wedneday, Dec. 11th – Henna Tattoos

3 – 6 p.m. | University Center Rotunda

Swing by the Rotunda to get a henna tattoo and enjoy some hot chocolate while you wait!

Don't forget to touch the foot of Dr. Hector P. Garcia's statue for some extra luck on those exams!
