Jack Riding was one of our pupils; he collapsed and died playing the sport he adored on 15th August 2018. He was just 18 years old. Jack was a phenomenal footballer with a ‘crackin’ left foot’. He has represented our school, Sacred Heart, Sefton and was also an academy player for Everton. He most recently played for Prescot Cables.
After discussion with Jack’s family, we decided to have a 'Wear Your Sports Kit for Jack Day' to raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) and the Jack Riding Foundation. This charity funds tests for all footballers between the age of 14 and 35 to check for any cardiac abnormalities. Each test costs £50. If Jack had been screened, his condition would have been detected and treated.
During the day we had sports sessions so that the children could participate in fun, sporty events including penalty shoot-outs, cricket, wacky races and aerobics.
Here are some photos of the the children having sporty fun!
