Story Synopsis

Written by De'Angelo Young, Kiss From a Rose tells the poetic story of 2 brothers Messiah Rose and Alyx Rose who are forced to fend for themselves in a chaotic world after they tragically lose their mother. Messiah looking to make a better life for himself and his troublesome younger brother Alyx, turns to gambling in an underground boxing league. This decision turns disastrous when a terrible loss in the ring leaves them indebted to a mafia boss. but real joy enters Messiah's life when he meets an effervescent painter Ivory Jackson. as their romance begins to blossom Messiah begins to see hope for a better future.

Character Bio

Messiah Rose- 23 year old born February 14th 1998, Born in uptown Manhattan, New York in the neighborhood of Harlem , A brilliant poet who writes deep poetry through his journey to vent his frustration and find meaning in his life. He started boxing as a way to channel his anger and escape his poverty stricken environment. He is a quiet reserved introvert and is always trying to steer his trouble making younger brother in the right direction. he suffers from trauma from the emotional and physical abuse inflicted by his father, Josiah Clark

Alyx Rose- African American male younger brother of Messiah Rose 18 years old born Christmas Day, December 25th 2003 In Harlem, New York. he is involved in a mafia led by ruthless crime boss Kayne Williams, and is constantly in and out of trouble. He has no direction in life and when he lost his mother he became lost. He desires to get out the gang and lead a straight life with the love if his life Phoenix Dela Cruz He is very funny. out going and charming at times

Jacqueline Rose- Mother of Messiah and Alyx, passes away at the young age of 45 after a battle with breast cancer. She is a religious woman with a strong belief in God, she is strong and wise. was physically and emotionally abused by her ex husband Josiah

Ivory Mercedes Jackson- African American Bi-racial Female Messiahs main love interest, Born May 22nd 1996, 25 years old from Johannesburg, South Africa, a place known for its thriving arts community. Her mother, An African American female is a florist, her father, Caucasian male is a famous pianist which is how she got her name, Ivory, named after the keys on the piano, she took piano lessons from age 5-15 where she began to take an interest in basket until she moved to America when she was 17. opting to attend Howard University on a partial scholarship. After she tore her achilles tendon her freshman year she realized her hoop dreams were over. after not being able to run or walk for a year she started painting. That is when she realized her true calling in life, to be a painter. she changed her major to Art History after graduating she accepted a job as an Art Curator at a museum in New York City. She is determined to be the worst greatest painter

Phoenix Dela Cruz- Dominican Latina Female age 21 Born in The Dominican Republic. She is the long time girl friend of Alyx Rose. She is a talented actress, she comes from a low income house hold but is determined to be an actress. she lives with Alyx and Messiah while she finishes film school. Despite her boyfriends troubles she still loves him and is determined to help him find his way in life.

Oddyssey Simpson- White female 27 years old born in Los Angeles California, is the best friend of Ivory she is a painter and works at the art museum where Ivory works. she is wise and is always giving Ivory advice about life and love

Josiah Clark- 47 years old, father of Messiah and Alyx has a very strained relationship with his sons due to his years of abusive behavior towards his family. desires to make amends for his mistakes and reestablish a relationship with his sons

Ozzy Davis- 65 year old African American Male owner of a local boxing gym where messiah fights, He saw great potential in Messiah and began to train and menture him

Kayne Williams- 33 year old leader of a mafia gang born in Brooklyn New York
