Although people expect the American dream and equality, people take that away from certain groups. As Americans we are guaranteed rights including the 14th amendment which is, “No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property”. LGBTQ

has been around for a little while and a lot of people no who they are. In Oregon a gay couple walked into a bakery and were denied when they asked to have a cake made. The right that was broken was in 2007 a law was passed in Oregon that said businesses can't discriminate or refuse service based on sexual orientation. This was something illegal that the bakery did.

The bakery ended up not doing so well. First of they broke the law and took a lot of heat from LGBTQ groups and other rights groups. The bakery ended up getting fined $135,000 for breaking the law. This was an effective outcome because the bakery discriminated to gay people but it worked out at the end. What was ineffective was the couple did not get their cake but they gained a lot more than the cake. So it was kind of a good thing. The bakery later shut down they were unable to get much much business because of this action and they were unable to pay there bills.

What could resolve this issue is people could take this to the Supreme Court and make sure that is does not happen again. They could come up with a more crucial punishment so people make sure not to discriminate against this group. We could put our efforts toward making peacefully protests so that LGBTQ groups do not feel more discrimination than others. We could also create peaceful protests so that no one will be harmed and a difference will be made.
