Cities and Scenery

The city of Venice is one of Italy's best tourist attractions because of it's beautiful scenery, cultural food, and gondola rides across the city.

Venice, Italy has many tourists attractions including St. Mark's Basilica, The Grand Canal, and Rialto Bridge.

Here is the Leaning Tower of Pisa located in Pisa, Italy. It is called this because as you can see it's leaning due to the ground the structure was built on and it not being able to hold it's weight.

This is the Pantheon located in Rome, Italy. This ancient building was built to worship the Greek gods and goddesses.

This is the Colosseum also located in Rome, Italy. The Colosseum was used for people called gladiators who would fight to the death.

This Is Mount Vesuvius, the volcano that destroyed Pompeii in 79 A.D.

Italy is a peninsula because it is a piece of land surrounded by 3 bodies of water.

Culture

This man is playing the Accordion, the traditional Italian instrument.

Another traditional Italian instrument is the Piva, an instrument that is very similar to the bagpipes. The Piva is played by blowing into one the the pipes and using your fingers to cover up little holes in the instrument to play different notes.

The very dramatic type of music called Opera originated in Italy.

Traditional Italian clothing consists of men wearing: dress shorts, long socks, and a nice shirt (vest and tie usually optional) woman's attire consists of: color filled dresses, jewelry, and a bonnet.

Some of the major sports played in Italy include Basketball, Football(Soccer), and Volleyball.

This is Bademjan, a traditional Italian meal usually eaten on special occasions or celebrations. This food consists of beef or sometimes even lamb and eggplants along with other seasonings.

The language spoken in Italy is Italian.

Italy's type of government is a Republic. Italy's current president is Sergio Mattarella.

Born in 100 B.C in Rome, Italy Julius Caesar was a war general who successfully conquered France and invaded Britain in 55 and 54 B.C.

Michelangelo was born on March 6, 1475 in Caprese Michelangelo, Italy. Michelangelo was most famous for his painting The Last Supper.

Leonardo Da Vinci was born in Anchiano, Italy on April 15, 1452. Da Vinci was most known for his painting The Mona Lisa also well as inventing multiple things including the parachute, flying machine, an armored car.

This is a sculptor of a man named Donatello. Donatello was born in 1386 in Florence, Italy. He was famous for many sculptures he created as well as assisting a man named Ghiberti create the bronze door at the Baptistery of Florence.

Raphael Sanzio was born in 1483, in Urbino, Italy. Raphael was a very famous painter and architect famous for artworks such as The School of Athens, his own self portrait, and his last piece of work Transfiguration.

Luciano Pavarotti was a famous Italian Opera singer who was born on October 12, 1935, in Modena, Italy. Pavarotti was most famous for being one of the best tenor Opera singers.
