DEMOLITION UNDERWAY

This past Wednesday, crews began site-razing activities at the City’s Primrose properties (located just north of Las Tunas Drive). Building demolitions will be completed the week of November 12; full site backfill and project closeout is expected by December 1.

Council discussion on site redevelopment is scheduled for November 20. Among the reuse options: additional surface parking, a neighborhood park, community center and a joint public-private development venture.

LAS TUNAS BEAUTIFICATION

On November 20, Council will consider a beautification program for the Las Tunas corridor. Among the proposals:

New landscaping and other decorative streetscape elements.

The funding of business awnings and other façade improvements.

Pilot programs aimed at introducing parklets and furthering outdoor dining.

The proposed recommendations are mainly aesthetic and do not propose a roadway reconfiguration of Las Tunas Drive.

Reminder to all voters that Election day is November 6, 2018. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

Below are some useful information about voting on November 6, 2018:

EARLY VOTE

You can vote early any time between now and November 6 at the Norwalk headquarters of the Los Angeles County Registrar. Nine additional early voting locations will be available the two weekends before Election Day (October 27 to 28 and November 3 to 4). Those locations are posted on the county registrar’s website; locally, they include the East Los Angeles Library and Jackie Robinson Community Center in Pasadena.

VOTE BY MAIL

Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received by your county elections office no later than 3 days after Election Day. If you are not sure your vote-by-mail ballot will arrive in time if mailed, bring it to any polling place in the state before polls close at 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.

FIND YOUR POLL PLACE

Your polling place is listed on the back of your sample ballot, but if you’ve misplaced it, don’t worry. The county registrar's website lets you plug in your address to find out where you need to go.

SAMPLE BALLOT

The sample ballot is just that—an example of your voting ballot. It is specific to the information you provided on your voter registration form, such as where you live and party preference. It's also a great tool to use before and on Election Day; it contains an image of what the actual ballot looks like, including candidates, questions and instructions for voting. Can't find your sample ballot? Get it here.

STATE PROPOSITIONS

For a look at the 11 propositions that California voters will weigh on November 6, download the state's official voter information guide. The proposals address a range of topics including government borrowing, healthcare, and taxes— even whether Californians should stop changing their clocks twice a year. Each needs only a simple majority of votes to become state law.

ELECTION RESULTS

To view results throughout election night/morning on November 6th and 7th, you can use the following link: https://www.lavote.net/home/voting-elections/current-elections/election-results/live-results. If you click on it now, you will see results from the last election in August so it is recommended that you wait until after 8:00 p.m. on November 6th to view results for the General Election.

Any questions regarding the election, contact County Registrar's Office at (800) 815-2666. For information on polling places, call (800) 815-2666, Option #1.

ANNUAL OVERNIGHT PARKING PERMIT RENEWAL

A permit is required to park on any public street in Temple City between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Notices will be mailed in early November to residents with annual overnight parking permits to renew for 2019. All 2018 annual permits will expire on December 31, 2018 and 2019 parking enforcement will begin on Monday, January 7, 2019. The following criteria must be met to be eligible for an annual overnight parking permit, including renewals:

1. There must be more registered vehicles parked at the residence than parking spaces. Parking spaces include garages, carports, driveways, and other paved areas. Parking spaces may not be used for storage of personal items, trailers, RVs, inoperable vehicles, off-road vehicles, or any purpose other than parking a registered vehicle. If parking spaces are used for storage or other purposes, the City will not issue an annual permit.

2. All vehicles parked at the residence must have current valid registration and be registered to the address. Copies of the registration for all vehicles must be submitted with the permit application, showing that the vehicles are registered to the address. If one or more vehicles are registered to a different address, the City will not issue an annual permit. Proof of residency will not be accepted in lieu of vehicle registration.

For more information, please contact the Community Development Department at 626-285-7187 or visit www.templecity.us/parking.

Businesses are encouraged to renew their licenses online by visiting www.templecity.us/renewal. Payment may be made online by Visa, MasterCard, or eCheck. Renewals may also be paid by check via mail, and in person at City Hall. Please note that contractors should not renew online and should contact City Hall before making payment to determine the amount due.
