If you are reading this, you probably were anticipating an article discussing financial strategies. Although our fiscal health is critical, keep reading, and I promise I will offer a different but quintessential type of investment.

As we continue the month of January 2020 with the concept of self-love, the investment of self-care is essential. It is hard to discuss the idea of love and not discuss the concept of caring. Whether it is a significant partner, friend, or colleague, caring for those around is integral in our relationships. Our relationships, either professional or personal, is determined by our ability to take care of ourselves in a healthy manner. The four areas I focus on when I am investing are: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. I will not tell you how to invest in each of these areas in this post but encourage you to invest sooner than later. Why? People depend on your leadership every day, which means there are no days off as a leader.

Furthermore, my second rule of personal leadership is you can't give what you don't have. If you don't take the time for yourself, you won't take the time for others. If you don't have the patience for yourself, you won't have the patience for others. Make time for yourself, because your value is essential to the growth of your family and organization. If you think of a full week of 168 hours, you make time for so many people, but make yourself a priority in your own life. Remember, you can be everything to everyone else, but nothing to yourself. Make and take the time to invest in yourself. You won't regret it.

Happy Leading,
