Michelangelo's Accomplishments By: Jordan Brooks

Michelangelo was a man alive during the Renaissance. He is now known as the greatest artist of the Italian Renaissance Period. He has made many accomplishments during his lifetime.

Most of Michelangelo's accomplishments were paintings and sculptures since he was an artist. Below are a few examples of his famous work.

  • Madonna of the Stairs and Battle of the Centaurs- Two of Michelangelo's first cultures made of marble reliefs. It was incredibly well done for a teenager.
  • Pieta- He sculpted Pieta when he was in his early twenties. It is Mary weeping over Jesus. This sculpture is now on display in St. Peters in the Vatican.
  • David- David is Michelangelo's most famous piece. It is a sign of Florentine freedom. Today, it is displayed in front of the Palazzo Vecchio.
  • Fresco on the Ceiling of the Sistine Chapel- This was some of Michelangelo's most well know art work. He painted the entire ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. It took him four years to finish.
