2017 Competition Overview

The Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law will host the 4th Annual Game Day Sports Case Competition: the only sports case competition that brings together MBA and JD students to take a multidisciplinary approach to analyzing, presenting, and negotiating solutions to real-world legal and business problems. Teams will compete for a total of $10,000 in prizes. Winners are selected by a blue-ribbon panel of senior executives and industry professionals who are leading and shaping the future of the sports industry.

The Game Day Sports Case Competition is a one-of-a-kind competition for collaborative teams of J.D. and MBA students working together. The competition will occur in two rounds: the first consisting of client consulting and the second focused on negotiations.

Teams will be divided into two groups to facilitate the negotiations portion of the competition. Teams will be assigned as A-teams or B-teams at the time of the case distribution (on March 17, 2017). In addition, the case competition will have two rounds that offer variance for teams to offer creative and innovative ideas while providing guardrails in order for teams to have an effective negotiation.
