Convergent boundary occurs when two plates collide. When an oceanic plate and continental plate collide, they form a convergent plate boundary. Convergent plate boundaries can also occur when two continental plates collide. Convergent boundary has a a compression stress. Mountains, earthquakes, and volcanoes are common near convergent boundaries.
This shows the motion of the boundary.
The Cascade Mountain Range (Oceanic – Continental)
These continental plates converging is in the Himalaya Mountains. (continent -to- continent)
2011 Christchurch Earthquake is an area near a convergent boundary ,where an earthquake occurred. February 2011 a natural disaster severely damaged New Zealand's 2nd largest city. It killed approximately 185 people!
Divergent Plate Boundary
Divergent plates are two plates that move away from each other. Divergent boundary occurs when two oceanic plate move away from each other. It can also occur when two continental plates move away from each other. This causes Mid-Ocean Ridge, volcanoes , and earthquakes to form. Divergent boundary has a tension stress.

The Mid atlantic has a divergent boundary. (Oceanic – Oceanic)
The East African Rift valley also has a divergent boundary. (Continental – Continental)
Mt.kilimanjaro, the two plates slowly moving apart and causing earthquakes and volcanoes to erupt. The last time a natural disaster happened in this boundary was 100,000 when the volcanoes erupted.
Transfer plate boundary
Transfer plate boundary boundary occurs when two plates slide past each other. Transfer plate boundary boundary has a tension stress. Landforms created by transfer plate boundary are mostly earthquakes and mountains.

The San Andreas Fault has a transfer plate boundary.

A big earthquake occurred on April 18, 1906 in San Francisco , California. About 3,000 people were killed and $524 million in property damage.
