Hello PRSC Families
That's the question many soccer players must be asking right now. Nearly 400 Travel players and more than 1,100 House players anxiously are awaiting the extended Winter weather to break. Only a few Travel teams played matches the first two weekends of the season due to wet fields and snow throughout Chicagoland. The opening weekend of the House season was cancelled and pushed to this weekend.
In State Cup action, the 2005 Elite boys defeated Chicago Wind Pre-Academy 1-0 in extra time on a goal by Max Stalenczyk. Elite continues on in the tournament when it hosts Lifezone FC Saturday, 11:30 a.m. at Woodland Park.
In another State Cup game, the 2003/2004 Elite Boys fought back from a 2-0 deficit to FCX to tie the match on Shant Demirjian's goal on a set piece with a minute to play. FCX scored in the first of two overtimes to move forward in the tournament. Ryan Pothast scored Elite's first goal mid-way through the second half.
While the House league took the Winter off, the Travel program moved indoors for futsal at Franklin School and team training at LoVerde Center in Niles. While some trainers opted for intrasquad training at LoVerde, a large number of teams participated in leagues at Athletico Center in Glenview. Congratulations to the 2006 Orange Boys for placing first in its league and to the 2003/2004 Elite Girls for placing second.
