Title: My hungry Cat ; Written by Drew Baird

There once was a cat that would always sit on a mat

The cat was to big to get up and move

It always had its favorite butt groove

My cat ate like a hog

We thought it must be an ugly dog

We took it to the vet

All they said it was an ordinary pet

It was always so hungry it could eat a horse

But all it did was complain in remoarse

I love this cat so much

But it would eat all my food even my lunch

We had to give it to our friend so we wouldn't become poor

All they said was it eats like a wild boar

It was so sad it made me want to cry

At least the cat did not die

The cat got a good deal

Now it can have as much as it wants for his meal

the fat cat

Firework by :Katy perry

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag

Drifting through the wind

Wanting to start again

Do you ever feel so paper thin

Like a house of cards

One blow from caving in

Do you ever feel already buried deep

Six feet under screams

But no one seems to hear a thing

Do you know that there's still a chance for you

'Cause there's a spark in you

You just gotta ignite the light

And let it shine

Just own the night

Like the fourth of July

'Cause baby you're a firework

Come and show 'em what you're worth

Make 'em go "oh, oh, oh!"

As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you're a firework

Come and let your colors burst

Make 'em go "oh, oh, oh!"

You're gonna leave 'em falling down down down

You don't have to feel like a waste of space

You're original, cannot be replaced

If you only knew what the future holds

After a hurricane comes a rainbow

Maybe a reason why all the doors are closed

So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road

Like a lightning bolt, your heart will glow

And when it's time, you'll know

You just gotta ignite the light

And let it shine

Just own the night

Like the fourth of July

'Cause baby you're a firework

Come and show 'em what you're worth

Make 'em go "oh, oh, oh!"

As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you're a firework

Come and let your colors burst

Make 'em go "oh, oh, oh!"

You're gonna leave 'em all in awe-awe-awe

Boom, boom, boom

Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon

And it's always been inside of you you you

And now it's time to let it through

'Cause baby you're a firework

Come and show 'em what you're worth

Make 'em go "oh, oh, oh!"

As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you're a firework

Come and let your colors burst

Make 'em go "oh, oh, oh!"

You're gonna leave 'em all in awe awe awe

I think the song writer of Firework-Katy Perry created this song to show people its okay to be different; just be yourself and that is exactly what the figurative language in the song displays. One example of how it helps support what Katy Perry is trying to say is when she says the metaphor, "Baby, you're a firework...". This is her way of saying that there is a lot in you just waiting to come out. It is okay to be different and let yourself go. She then says to, "Let your colors burst." This example is an example of personification because colors can not burst, but she uses this phrase showing let yourself completely go and be yourself and it will be okay and people will like what they see.

Hey There Delilah: Tom Higgenson

What's it like in New York City?

I'm a thousand miles away

But girl, tonight you look so pretty

Yes you do

Times Square can't shine as bright as you

I swear it's true

Hey there Delilah

Don't you worry about the distance

I'm right there if you get lonely

Give this song another listen

Close your eyes

Listen to my voice, it's my disguise

I'm by your side

Oh it's what you do to me [x4]

What you do to me

Hey there Delilah

I know times are getting hard

But just believe me, girl

Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar

We'll have it good

We'll have the life we knew we would

My word is good

Hey there Delilah

I've got so much left to say

If every simple song I wrote to you

Would take your breath away

I'd write it all

Even more in love with me you'd fall

We'd have it all

Oh it's what you do to me [x4]

A thousand miles seems pretty far

But they've got planes and trains and cars

I'd walk to you if I had no other way

Our friends would all make fun of us

And we'll just laugh along because we know

That none of them have felt this way

Delilah I can promise you

That by the time we get through

The world will never ever be the same

And you're to blame

Hey there Delilah

You be good and don't you miss me

Two more years and you'll be done with school

And I'll be making history like I do

You'll know it's all because of you

We can do whatever we want to

Hey there Delilah here's to you

This one's for you

Oh it's what you do to me [x4]

What you do to me

The interpretation of this song, Hey Delilah written by Tom Higgenson, is that he is in-love with a girl. The figurative language in this song helps the listener and/or reader understand what she is trying to communicate to people. One example is when he uses the simile and says, "Times square can't shine as bright as you". He compares this girl to times square meaning she is beautiful like times square. He then uses personification when he says, "This guitar will someday pay the bills." He means he will play the guitar and take care of her later. Another example of personification is when he says, "A simple song would take your breath away." Songs can not do this but he uses this meaning that if a song could make you feel amazed.

Grenade by: Bruno Mars

Easy come, easy go, that's just how you live oh

Take, take, take it all, but you never give

Should have known you was trouble from the first kiss

Had your eyes wide open,

Why were they open?

Gave you all I had and you tossed it in the trash

You tossed it in the trash, you did

To give me all your love is all I ever asked 'cause

What you don't understand is I'd catch a grenade for ya (yeah, yeah)

Throw my head on a blade for ya (yeah, yeah)

I'd jump in front of a train for ya (yeah, yeah)

You know I'd do anything for ya (yeah, yeah)

Oh oh, I would go through all this pain

Take a bullet straight through my brain

Yes, I would die for ya baby

But you won't do the same

No, no, no, no

Black, black, black and blue,

Beat me 'til I'm numb,

Tell the devil I said 'hey' when you get back to where you're from

Mad woman, bad woman

That's just what you are,

Yeah you'll smile in my face then rip the brakes out my car

Gave you all I had and you tossed it in the trash

You tossed it in the trash, yes you did

To give me all your love is all I ever asked

'Cause what you don't understand is

I'd catch a grenade for ya (yeah, yeah)

Throw my head on a blade for ya (yeah, yeah)

I'd jump in front of a train for ya (yeah, yeah)

You know I'd do anything for ya (yeah, yeah)

Oh oh, I would go through all this pain,

Take a bullet straight through my brain,

Yes, I would die for ya baby,

But you won't do the same

If my body was on fire,

Oh you'd watch me burn down in flames

You said you loved me you're a liar 'cause you never,

Ever, ever did baby

But darling I'll still catch a grenade for ya (yeah, yeah)

Throw my head on a blade for ya (yeah, yeah)

I'd jump in front of a train for ya (yeah, yeah)

You know I'd do anything for ya (yeah, yeah)

Oh oh I would go through all this pain

Take a bullet straight through my brain

Yes, I would die for ya baby

But you won't do the same

No, you won't do the same

You wouldn't do the same

Oh, you'll never do the same

No, no, no, no

In the song, Grenade, by Bruno Mars one would interpret that he would do anything for the person he is singing about. He uses several hyperbole's to express his desire to be with this person and what he would do for her. The hyperbole's that are said again and again are, " I will throw my head on a blade for ya, take a bullet in the head for ya, throw myself in front of a train for ya, and I would catch a grenade for ya." All of these show he would go to many lengths to keep this person, but is exaggerating to express this.
