Movie vs. Book Holes

In the book Holes Stanley who has bad luck due to a curse placed on his great- great-grandfather, is sent to Camp Green Lake, a juvenile detention camp, for a crime he did not commit. Stanley and the other boys at the camp are forced to dig large holes in the dirt every day.

In the movie it Stanley steals some shoes and ends up getting caught then get sent to Camp Green Lake ,and has to dig holes .

In the book holes Trout is called Trout because his feet smell like fish. His real name is Charles.The source of his nickname is never mentioned, nor is his real name in the movie.In the book when Mr. Sir is scratched across his cheek, he stays still for a few seconds, and then screams and falls, but in the movie he immediately screams and falls backwards over a chair.
