THE LOCATION

The convention will take place at the Centro di Formazione Protezione Civile in Rivera (Switzerland), 10 km from both cities of Lugano and Bellinzona.

MARIO HASPELS

Mario Haspels is a K9 Detection and Tracking Instructor working with Scent Imprint for Dogs, an independent organization from the Netherlands, providing trained K9 to many international institutions.

LOUISE WILSON

Founder and CEO of Conservation K9 Consultancy, Louise Viljoen has pursued single-handedly the development of dogs to work in conservation in the UK and was able to secure work in Gabon and Tanzania. Now as an independent Consultant, she is the founder and Owner of Conservation K9 Consultancy - offering her services UK and worldwide for both wildlife Monitoring and wildlife Crime detection.

WESLEY VISSCHER

Founder and CEO of Scent Imprint for Dogs, Wesley Visscher is a young, yet experienced K9 Instructor for Detection and Tracking Dogs.. He works as an independent trainer, and his dogs are deployed internationally.

ILKKA HORMILA

Founder and CEO of K9 IlMa Glibal Training.. During his police K9-career of over 40 years Ilkka worked for example at The Police Dog Training Centre in Finland as a teacher for K9 Scent Detection Unit training, tracking, search, ID-detection and Explosive and Arson and Cadaver detection dogs, and also served in operational duties with his own dogs.

THE GROUPS

THE TRAINING GROUPS

IMPRINTING

The instructor of the Imprinting Group will be Mario Haspels. The group will be of maximum 10 Teams, with dogs from 12 weeks of age. Focus will be on the process of scent imprinting.

CONSERVATION AND NATURE RELATED

The instructor of the Conservation & Nature Group will be Louise Viljoen. The group will be of maximum 10 Teams, and every dog has to already be imprinted on at least one scent (specimen of this scent are to be brought by the handler for training purposes). Focus will be on everything nature related (species, forbidden items, scat...)

SUBSTANCES

The instructor of the Substances group will be Wesley Visscher. The group will be of maximum 10 Teams, and every dog has to already be imprinted on at least one scent (specimen of this scent are to be brought by the handler for training purposes). Focus will be on Substances detection (narcotics, explosives, arson, mold...)

HUMAN SCENT

The instructor of the Human Scent Group will be Ilkka Hormila. The group will be of maximum 10 Teams, and every dog has to already be imprinted on at least one scent (specimen of this scent are to be brought by the handler for training purposes). Focus will be on everything Human Scent related (HRD, bloodstains...)

LANGUAGE

All the lectures and training will be held in English.

Accomodation

Close to the festival's location, it is possible to find many hotels that allow dogs in the rooms.

FEES

Admission fee for K9 Handlers: CHF 450.- Admission fee for auditors. CHF 200.- Auditors are allowed to follow any group

REGISTRATION

Enrollment requests are done by e-mail, and will be treated on a first come-first serve basis. There will be no exceptions regarding the size of the groups, so book early
