Poni Viola, Primary 5 Student

Poni is originally from Kajo-keji but fled with her parents last when the war escalated in her village. She joined Hilltop Primary School this year and shared the following about the impact of their newly drilled borehole by Neverthirst and EAM:

“My name is Poni and I attend Hilltop Primary School. When I joined Hilltop school at the beginning of the year, it was very difficult to get water so I would have to wait until 4:00pm when I returned home, to drink water. Sometimes, I would get so thirsty in the middle of class that I would escape and run home which is about 20 minutes away from school, to drink water.”

“Many times, my books would get stolen when I was away looking for drinking water because many pupils in my class lack books."

“Thank you Neverthirst and EAM for drilling a borehole near our school. I now don’t have to run home in the middle of class to drink water, and know that I will not lose my books next year because I won’t have to go far to look for water.”

Chaplain Longa, Hill Top Primary School Security Guard

Chaplain formerly worked as a security guard at Equity bank in Kajo-keji before the conflict broke out and forced his family to flee. He now works as the security guard at Hilltop Primary School, and shares why the new borehole at the school is important.

“When I stated working at Hilltop three months ago, the major problem I saw was the lack of water. Many of our pupils would dodge classes to look for water, and some would never return. This really affected their performance because they were not able to concentrate in class,” says Chaplain.

“I am really happy that our pupils can now easily access clean water from the newly drilled borehole here at Hilltop. We expect better attendance and performance next year, and are really excited. On behalf of the administration, I would like to say a big thank to Neverthirst and the management of EAM. May God bless you.”
