Maryland Mall: A Phenomenal Experience by Metal Interactive Media

I am not really a Mall-goer like that, but every time i find myself within the walls of a mall it has to be for a very productive reason. A lot of malls have morphed in different parts of Lagos. As you know, Lagos is the commercial hub of Nigeria--or say Africa. I know my South African friends will really refute this claim.

The Lagos metropolis is hugely lit up by the fact that Lagosians, as we are called are a very lively bunch. The population of Lagos according to the 2006 National Census is about 9 million. The city of Lagos is hugely stratified as every other major metropolis the world has ever seen-Rio de Janeiro, New York, Tokyo etc.

The major buzz areas according to many include Ikeja, Surulere, Victoria Island, Lekki and Maryland. These areas are particularly referred to as the buzz areas due to the level of exciting activities offered to both local residents and expats who make up a good number of these buzz areas.

. From nightlife activities, clubbing, Kart riding, cinemas to restaurants, Lagos boasts of a good number of fun things to do, not forgetting visiting the various malls for sightseeing and windowshopping

You might not agree with my position when I say a good number of Mall goers across various malls are from the not-so-buzzy-or-cool-areas of the state. This means a lot of people from across Lagos visit these malls regularly.

Maryland Mall: The Black Box

My experience with the Maryland Mall was phenomenal. Malls are particularly springing up across the city of Lagos, catering to the interest of various people. The Maryland Mall which is popularly known as the Black Box is situated within the residential part of the Maryland axis. It boasts of various businesses within the mall. From Medplus Pharmacy, Stanbic IBTC, Genesis Deluxe Cinemas, Shoprite to various food marts within the food court, the Black Box is reputed to have something for everyone.

One of the fascinating feels of driving through the Maryland area of Lagos is the huge digital banner that beautifies the outside of the black box—according to the managers of the mall, that digital board is the largest in Africa. The digital banner gives brands within the Mall an opportunity to advertise their services. I believe the Maryland Mall goes a step further in offering something different for both customers and shop owners within the mall.

I believe the floor plan of the mall is phenomenal. No business is deprived of a decent amount of human traffic within the mall. The architects got this right, unlike the other malls where I always tend to lose my way around.

I think it is a beautiful mall and you’d have an awesome time visiting with your friends and family.
