Jokulsarlon Lagoon SOUTH REGion OF ICELAND


Driving from Reykjavík it's around a 4-5 hour drive in good weather it's a very scenic trip to take and worth syaying there for a chance of seeing the Northern Lights if the sky is clear a great backdrop for some stunning photos

Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon

The lagoon is naturally formed from the glacial water comming from the tongue of the Vatnajökull glacier Europe's largest glacier the area is part of Icelands largest nationl park. Jökulsárlón lagoon is a must see place to visit on a trip to Iceland and a short walk across the road you are on Diamond beach best time to see the place is sunset when the ice takes on the colours of the sky

The glacier enters the lagoon at the far end of the lagoon large blocks of ice crumble away from the edge of the glacier and fall into the lagoon the saltwalter from the sea slowly melts and crack the ice you can see them rolling over and moving around in the lagoon on there way to the sea .
