Map It Out Get Your Business on Google Maps

Have you searched for your business on Google Maps? If you haven't, you should do so soon. We know Google's mapping technology is used by many for directions and seeing what's around them. It's critical to make sure that your company's information is correct and current on Google Maps.

When we help our clients with their marketing strategy, one of the first things we do for them is look on Google Maps for their business. I can't tell you how many times we’ve found a client's company's information incorrect, location marker in the wrong spot or the business not listed on Maps. For example, we had one client whose address was missing a zero in the address on Maps, which put the location marker 6 miles from their actual location. Something as small as an incorrect address number can be costing you business. So how do you fix an issue or have your business listed on Google Maps?

First, search for your business on Google Maps by entering your business name, city and state. If your business is on Google Maps, you will see it either in a list format or on the map like this:

From Google Maps

Then click on the name of your business in the map. A blue information card will pop up on the right of your screen like the pic below (via laptop/desktop). If all the information is correct and the location maker is correct, then be sure that you have claimed your business with Google.

From Google Maps

Click on the one you need and follow the directions from there. Google will guide you through the process to make the claim or edits. If your business doesn't show up at all, then you will need to claim the business to get it verified and put on Maps. This is a free service provided by Google, and it is a great advertising tool for small businesses. I hope this information we've shared today will help put your business on the map. Best wishes to your success!
