My Learning Journal UX design

What is User Experience?

Here are my thoughts at the start of the class, Feb. 2017.

UX : Personas

I work for a university in the online degree department. Our average student is 35 years old and established in their career. They are looking to advance in their profession through earning a master's degree, but often need the flexibility of an online program. One way we reach potential students is to attend professional trade shows and conferences.

Our recruiters have booths at the shows with literature about the program. I'm exploring the possibility of developing a virtual tour that would engage the potential student longer, with goal of turning them from prospects into students.

To come up with my personas, I read articles about current students, demographic information from our most recent annual report, and input from recruiters on staff.

I have a pretty clear vision of what I want this app to be. Our university website is robust with details about programs and specifics about how to become a student. This app is meant to be supplementary to the recruiter at a show and other materials they will bring along. It is another point of engagement with potential students.

My cards are pretty simple.

1. Begin with choosing program

2. Name of program (example: Project Management)

3. Information about what you can earn (example: master's degree, certificate)

4. Call to Action (Sign up to receive more information)

Further research: Do I add anything about financial aspects, or an FAQ page? My first reaction is no, keep it simple.
