2019 Call for Proposals

On June 6, 2019 NC State University will be hosting the 2019 NC STRIVE Central East Conference. The overarching goal of NC STRIVE is to provide services and supports leading to Student Veterans’ success in two-year and four-year public and private institutions of higher education in North Carolina. This goal is achieved through the implementation of four regional conferences targeting student veterans, administrators, support staff, and faculty.

Program Committee

The Program Committee is accepting proposals for innovative, timely, and dynamic educational sessions from students, staff, faculty, and community organizations working with veterans in higher education settings to be presented at the NC STRIVE Conference, June 6, 2019 in Raleigh, NC. The 2019 conference theme is Explore. Network. Succeed.

In keeping with our theme, we are interested in topics that provide innovative ways for student veterans to meet their educational and professional goals, explore the ideas of successful transition and employment preparedness, and promoting inclusive programs and spaces for veterans on campus. Ideally selected programs will contribute to the professional development of student veterans, military-affiliated students, caregivers/partners, administrators, support staff, and faculty spanning all levels of experience and work settings.

Our mission is to select a comprehensive set of programs that provides both diversity of education and support services for student veterans and the variety of professionals who provide veteran and military support services in two-year and four-year public and private institutions of higher education in North Carolina. All sessions will take place at the Talley Student Union at NC State University main campus in Raleigh, NC. Submitters will receive an email notification of the program committee’s decision regarding their proposal in mid-March 2019.

Session Formats Available for Submission:

  • Break out sessions: These 50 minute sessions can take various forms, from a single presenter or panel presentation
  • Poster session: Posters will be on display throughout the conference with a specified period for authors to answer questions about their area of study and findings
  • Exhibitor/Resource Table: This format allows exhibitors or organizations a reserved table among other exhibitors to provide and discuss resources on an individual level

Submissions should be submitted using the link below no later than 8:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2019.

Please download the Call for Proposal guidelines and information packet found below for more details on submission requirements. We strongly encourage students to participate and we are excited to explore your ideas, interests, and projects.
