Miyajima -宮島 Wonderful Japan

Miyajima the Island of Shrine is a wonderful scenic place and it offers a deep view into Japanese religion and believe. For sure most well known is the great Torii which is placed in the ocean. But there is so much more to explore and enjoy.

I just spent a whole day on the island and I found it's not enough time to explore everything with respect and enjoyment, so I skipped lot's of the exciting places. But even so it was a wonderful and enjoyable time on the island of Miyajima.

Itsukushima Shrine - 厳島神社

Itsukushima Shrine is maybe the most famous Shrine on the island. It so lovely, specially at high tight, because it seems the whole Shrine is floating on the water of this bay. As well the visitor realize the wonderful harmony of the building with it's environment, the mountain with it's green trees and the blue of the ocean.

Stairs of Sculpture at Daishō-in - 大聖院

After accessing the area of Daishō-in there are two different ways climbing the hill to reach the Temple. One is a log steep stair and the other offers lot's of stairs as well, but it's framed by hundreds of wonderful sculptures. It was so exciting to walk there and in the end I spent there more than one hour to

The big Torii at Itsukushima Shrine

Like the Itsukushima Shrine the Torii seems do floating on the water and it seems not be be access able. But when the low tide start the Torii gets access able by walk. This is a wonderful opportunity to get a different view of this place an the Torii. It's exciting to experience how gigantic this Torii is.
