Buckeyes Garner Preseason Accolades Ohio State starts 2018 at No. 8 in Inside Lacrosse's Face-Off Yearbook

The Ohio State men's lacrosse team will begin the 2018 season as the nation's No. 8-ranked team according to Inside Lacrosse's Face-Off Yearbook. In addition, three Buckeyes were selected to the magazines preseason All-America team: sophomores Tre Leclaire and Ryan Terefenko and senior Ben Randall.

Highest Preseason Ranking since '14

The Buckeyes' No. 8 slot in the Face-Off Yearbook represents its highest ranking since it was No. 7 entering the 2014 season. In all, four Big Ten squads are in the top 11 of the poll and three are in the top eight.

Getting Defensive

Inside Lacrosse rated the Buckeyes' defense of Matt Borges, Erik Evans and Ben Randall as the nation's No. 2 overall unit. Says IL: "The Buckeyes return their entire starting close unit from their national runner-up campaign, headlined by Ben Randall (50 GB, 13 CT), the team's premier cover man and arguably the nation's best defenseman entering 2018."

Preseason All-Americans

BEN RANDALL | SR. | DEFENSE

A homegrown Buckeye from Cincinnati, Randall became the first player in program history to earn first-team All-American honors in 2017. He had 50 groundballs and 13 caused turnovers and picked up at least two groundballs in 18 of 21 games.

TRE LECLAIRE | SO. | ATTACK

Leclaire is coming off a season in which he set the Buckeyes record for goals scored by a freshman (49) on his way to becoming the first rookie in program history to earn a sport in the USILA first/second team All-America list.

RYAN TEREFENKO | SO. | SSDM

Like Leclaire, Terefenko made an immediate impact last year and is primed for even more in 2018. He was a honorable mention USILA All-American and picked up 28 groundballs in 18 games from his short stick defensive midfield spot.
