Euro-toques Ireland Young Chef of the Year 2016 A Photo essay

I was commissioned by Euro-toques Ireland to spend a day with their young chefs and judges as they competed for the overall title, not being familiar with Euro Toques my expectations were that this might be macho chefs berating/throwing shapes at the expense of younger chefs as they competed for a fantastic prize - namely all expenses paid stage at Nathan Outlaw’s 2 Michelin Star restaurant – Restaurant Nathan Outlaw in Port Issac, Cornwall

However, I was completely wrong, the level of encouragement, calm and good feeling was really surprising to me, a lot of people, myself, a camera crew, judges, reps from Euro Toques Ireland crowded in the kitchen of Dublin's Chapter One restaurant should have been a recipe for tension, but the only tension on dislplay was from the (naturally) nervous contestants.

Later that evening there was a gala event in Dublin's Intercontinental Hotel where the winner would be announced and attendees were treated to a 6 course meal, luckily I had changed into a black suit and was added to the list of diners.
