This week, we read the article Why We Crave Horror Movies by Stephen King. His writing stuck out to me because he talked about how we as humans crave thrill. I found it interesting how he related watching horror films to riding a roller coaster. I also enjoyed talking about monsters, especially the various interpretations of Grendel. When I was a senior in high school, I read the story Beowulf. While not paying attention to my teacher, I doodled my interpretation of what Grendel looked like. I called my mother to see if she could find the notebook that had my doodle inside it, but she could not find it. I put these two thoughts together and drew an (elementary looking) picture of a monster riding a rollercoaster. Though this monster is not exactly how I picture Grendel, it is still a monster. It also consists of the thrill of riding a rollercoaster.
