Charlemagne

  • Charlemagne is the greatest ruler of the Carolingian Empire and the Franks.
  • December 25, 800 AD the pope crowned Charlemagne as the First Holy Roman Emperor.

Pepin the Short

  • In exchange for the blessing of the Pope, Pepin promised to offer his protection to the Church.
  • 752 A.D. the Pope anointed Pepin the Short as king.
