Learning Environment at Ysgol Maes Y Mynydd

At Maes Y Mynydd we believe that our children deserve the very best. In recent times, our school has gone through an exciting transformation to ensure that are our environment supports us to deliver an outstanding curriculum. We believe our school environments reflects the high aspirations we have for our children.

School Library: our school has a strong reading culture and our magical library is at the heart of this. In summer 2021, we secured £7,000 grant funding to restock our shelves with new books for our children to enjoy.
Classroom reading corners: each classroom offers children a cosy reading area where they select from a range of high quality recommended texts.
Forest School: our children love to learn and discover outdoors; our Forest School is the perfect environment for this.
Foundation Phase Outdoor classrooms: our Early Years and Year 1 and 2 outdoor classrooms provide high quality outdoor provision for our children.
The Hive: at the centre of our school is 'The Hive'. The Hive is calm and peaceful outdoor space that supports everyone's wellbeing. It is used by breakfast club and then throughout the school day by children and adults.
Fferm y Mynydd and Siop y Mynydd: Our school farm is home to our hens. Children also use the raised beds, polytunnel and fruit cage to grow fruit and vegetables. We recycle rain water for watering and create our own compost to feed the plants. The Farm shop is Welsh language and ran by the children to sell our grown produce.
