Black Mountain Elementary School Preparing students for the global stage

A Look Ahead

May 15th

The last day of our formal online instruction will be May 15. If you want your child to participate in other learning opportunities through the following week, they will continue to have access to the online learning platforms they have used this year.

May 18th-20th

Beginning the 18th, we will collect Chromebooks, library books, and anything else you need to return to school. At the same time, we will distribute yearbooks and any other items left behind. Please plan on coming to BMES between 8:30-11:00 on the day that corresponds to your child’s last name. The schedule is as follows:

  • May 18 for last names- A-H
  • May 19 for last names- I-Q
  • May 20 for last names- R-Z

We will be utilizing both parking lots for this process. Pickup will take place in the north parking lot and drop off will take place in the south parking lot.

As always, please send me your questions, concerns, or confusions, and I'll respond as soon as possible.

May 20th

Here is your chance to say aloha to the BMES staff in person. The teachers and other staff are excited to have a chance to see all of the kids in person rather than through a computer screen.

Beginning at 7:00, family vehicles can enter the main (south) parking lot and drive outer loop (same route as for drive up). Please keep your vehicles moving at a safe speed and remain in your cars at all times (Think Bearizona only with less wolves). Plan on cheering, waving and saying goodbye out of the left side of your vehicles. Feel free to make signs, decorate your vehicles, or just play the part of a happily waving tourist.

The staff will be lined up in the parking lot and will be separated by their vehicles. The aloha themed parade will be a fun chance to welcome in the summer and show off patterns only welcomed in Florida or at Hawian themed parties. Really, this is just one more chance for Mr. Owsley to add to his expansive costume collection.

The parade will end at 8:00 so make sure you are in line before that time. For those of you with middle schoolers, the middle school is having their virtual graduation ceremony on the 20th beginning at 6:00 and it should be done in enough time to come to the parade.

Kinder & 6th Grade Promotion items

If you have a Kindergartener and were unable to pick up a graduation cap this week, please contact your child’s teacher to pick up your cap. If you have a 6th grader and were unable to pick up your Sonoran Trails t-shirt, the shirt will be added to your child’s bag for pickup (during your scheduled time) the last week of school.

Please help us cheer on the 6th grade students as they leave their elementary years behind and become big 7th graders!

Report Cards

In order to access your child’s 4th Quarter report card, you will need to log in to your parent portal account. If you still need a hard copy of the report card, please email Emilee Stephens at estephens@ccusd93.net. If you have questions concerning your child’s grade, please contact your child’s teacher. If you do not have a parent portal account, there are a few reasons why you will want to:

  1. You will need a parent portal account to view your child’s report card. This includes all K-6 students.
  2. You will need a parent portal account to view your child’s class placement for next year. In the past, CCUSD sent out emails a few days prior to school with teacher assignment information. There were issues this past year and many CCUSD families did not receive the email. However, parents with a portal account were able to log in and see their child’s teacher. Therefore, this is the system we will use moving forward. While teacher assignments will not be made available until August, please make sure you have an account now to be able to view your child’s classroom assignment when it does happen.

If you have never logged into the Parent Portal before, you will need to create a new account and request an activation code by following directions under the "new to the portal" side.

If you have any questions or need help, please contact the CCUSD Help Desk at 480-575-2066.

We are looking forward to hiring amazing people for the 20-21 school year! Please consider joining the BMES family in one of the positions below!

While we do not currently have any teaching openings for next year, please email me at mowsley@ccusd93.net if you are a certified teacher and would like to be considered if a position does open up.

Let’s show our Bobcat spirit on these district-wide spirit days. Please send pics of your child participating to bmespto@ccusd93.net. We will flood social media with all the BMES spirit and will share with CSHS.
