I Have a Dream Replacing negativity with positivity

“I have a dream…” the famous words spoke by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. when he gave his historical speech at the march on Washington. Well, I too have a dream. My dream is to end negativity and replace It with positivity.

It seems to me, as humans in the 21st century, with all of it’s technological advances, we have a very negative outlook on life. It seems to me, that we expect everything to be handed to us on a silver platter. It seems to me, that when faced with a real challenge, we tend to only think negatively towards the situation. It seems to me, that sometimes, we tend to use negative attitudes to be downright lazy.

Part of the reason, I believe, that we are so negative, is because there are more negative emotional words (62 percent) than positive words (32 percent) in the English language. The fact that there are so many more negative words than positive words in our english language makes us all the more prone to use them. So, as I see it, it will require quite a lot of effort to replace the negativity in our lives with positivity.

I believe that we can do it. I believe that if we try hard enough, we can make all of our lives more positive. As Dr.King said, “we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow”, and we seem to want to face those difficulties with a negative attitude. We must stay positive. We must, instead of using words like can’t and won’t, use words like can and will.

Positive attitudes will make us happier, and might even change some of our attitudes about life. Being positive could be the first step towards achieving your goals. Because really, if we aren’t positive about our dreams, what can we be positive about?
