About the Company

Dell EMC sells data storage, information security, virtualization, analytics, cloud computing and other products and services that enable large companies and small- and medium-sized businesses to store, manage, protect, and analyze data.

EMC currently has over 70,000 employees and is the world's largest provider of data-storage systems. EMC also sells products to help companies move to a cloud computing model.


1979: EMC founded by Richard Egan and Roger Marino.

1981: EMC begins producing 64-kilobyte memory boards for computers.

1984-1986: EMC expands beyond creating memory boards to other types of computer data storage.

1990: EMC began shipping the Symmetrix, an enterprise storage array. The Symmetrix helped the company's value grow from hundreds of millions of dollars to several billion dollars.

2001: EMC completely shifts focus from memory boards to data storage systems. Estimated company worth = $9 billion

2015: EMC acquired by Dell for $67 billion.

Who can apply: Undergraduate and finance MBA students
