On Monday the 11 November I was delighted to accompany our Year 6 Student Leaders to the North Sydney Memorial to take time to honour and remember those who served to protect our freedom as part of our Remembrance Day commemorations.
Welcome to our 2019 Kindergarten Students
Over recent weeks we have welcomed all of our 2020 Kindergarten children to our school for the Orientation Program. The children settled into the classrooms beautifully. Our senior students also did a brilliant job welcoming families and assisting in the classrooms. We look forward to seeing all of our new students when they start at Anzac Park on Monday 3 February next year!
End of Year Disco
Our End of Year Disco will be held on Friday 6 December in the school hall. This year we will have three discos for the different age groups during school hours. The disco for students in Kindergarten and Year 1 will be held between 10am - 11am. The disco for students in Years 2 & 3 will be between 12pm-1pm and the Years 4-6 will be held between 2pm-3pm. Friday 6 December will be a mufti day for all students. We are looking forward to seeing our students in their best disco outfits!
Mountain Top
Our end of year Mountain Top evening will be held on Thursday 12 December. This will be an opportunity for our community to come together to share in the wonderful gains of all of our students. Students are currently working hard on their projects to “put on the Mountain Top” and I am looking forward to a wonderful community evening. Given the warmer weather, we will be holding a community picnic between 6pm-7pm and then open classrooms between 7pm-8pm.
2020 Enrolment Intentions – Final Reminder
We are currently in the process of planning for 2020. This includes the large task of determining staffing, classes, the location of each class in the school and the learning programs that will run next year. To complete this process it is essential that we have accurate enrolment numbers. It is especially important that we know if your child is not returning to Anzac Park or if you will not be returning in time for the start of the 2020 school year. I ask that you please let the school know no later than Wednesday 27 November.
Girls Sports Leggings Available in 2020
At last week's P&C meeting, it was decided to introduce girls leggings as part of the winter sports uniform in 2020. These will be available through the P&C and further information will be sent home about how to purchase these leggings in the new year.
Snapshot From Iris
Iris have had an exciting and busy start to Term 4 with Stage 2 camp and the fun preparation for Mountain Top. Students have dived into their project-based learning by becoming disco event planners through our Mathematics and Creative Arts programs. In Mathematics, students are using their knowledge of money, position, volume and capacity and chance, and applying these skills to help with our disco organisation.
Students are also busy preparing songs to be played at the disco through the use of GarageBand and their knowledge of song structure, rhythm and beat. We can't wait to share our creativity with our Anzac Park community!
News From The Library
Student borrowing has now finished for the year. Please return all library books as soon as possible to assist with preparations for the annual stocktake. Scholastic Book Club orders were distributed on Tuesday. Thank you to everyone who has purchased from Book Club this year. With the reward dollars earned from your purchases we have been able to add one hundred new books to the library collection.
Silver Awards
This week at assembly we celebrated the presentation of Silver Awards. Silver Awards are presented to students when they have received 3 Bronze Awards. Make sure you keep your child’s Bronze Awards safe and when they have collected 3, bring them into the office.
