ride 360 - Transportation news
We would ask that each of you download the RIDE360 app and link your students for this school year. Through the app, you will be able to see your bus stop location and times as well as see the bus location on the map through GPS. Click below for directions on how to do this. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact the transportation department at 317-326-3125.
- Doors open at 7:35am for Drop-off
- Pick up - 2:10pm Dismissal
Again this year, you will enter the drive west of the football field off of 500 North (BLUE LINE on picture below). The drop-off point will be located at the northeast doors (Gym). You will loop around and exit onto 500 North. If it is a possibility, we would encourage as many of you to head west on 500 North to eliminate some of the congestion on State Road 9.
Our south parking (ORANGE/RED) lot is for busses only between 7:20-7:55am and 1:35-2:25pm as busses stage there. At any other time of the day, this is used for parent parking. The east lot (aqua) can be used if you need to enter the building during drop-off or pick-up times.
The drive on the far north of our property is for bus traffic only. There should be no parent traffic on this drive at any time.
To best ensure your child makes it to the classroom on time, and safely, please remember the following rules in car line:
COVID information specific to MIS:
Lockers: They will not be used to start the year. This may be something that we move toward as the year goes on.
Breakfast: This will be "grab and go" style again this year. Students will pick up on the way into the building and eat in their homeroom class.
Lunch: Our intent is for all students to eat it in the cafeteria this year. We will keep them facing the same direction and distanced in the cafeteria. We will still have to have assigned seating for contact tracing purposes.
By having our students eat in the same area and the space this will take to accommodate all of our students, there will not be room available for visitors during lunch this school year.
Recess: Outdoor recess will be held by grade level. If indoor recess is necessary due to weather, our gym will be used when PE is not in session. However, the size of our gym has always limited the number of students so some classes will participate in the classroom on a rotating basis.
Perfect Attendance: Because some absences may be out of the control of students due to contact tracing, perfect attendance will not be tracked this year.
2021-22 Related arts schedule changes
We wanted to make you aware that the delivery method for our Related Arts classes has changed from previous years. In the past, we had blue & gold days as we shared staff with Greenfield Intermediate School on a rotating basis. On a blue day, your child would participate in two related arts classes and then wouldn't have a related arts class on a gold day.
This year, we will offer STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and music for the entire year with a band option for 6th graders. Art and PE will be semester long classes with Art being a first semester class and PE a second semester course.
Your child will have one Related Arts class for 45 minutes each day this year. This schedule will follow a 3 day rotation (M day, I day, and an S day).
For example, the student's schedule below shows he/she has:
- M day = Music (1st day of school: Thursday, July 29th)
- I day = Art (2nd day of school: Friday, July 30th)
- S day= STEM (3rd day of school: Monday, August 2nd)
This pattern would continue throughout the course of the year with PE replacing art after the winter break. On the MIS Calendar in the calendar section below, you can find the M, I, S days on the appropriate date.
School dismissal manager
For your convenience, Maxwell Intermediate School announces that we will be utilizing an on-line dismissal management system again this fall called School Dismissal Manager (SDM). It is dependable, easy-to-use, and can be updated by parents and guardians from the convenience of your smartphones, tablets, and PCs.
Through the on-line dismissal management system, you can:
• Report student absences and late arrivals
• Schedule early departures from school
• Schedule after-school activities such as scouting, clubs, and enrichment classes, etc.
• Make transportation changes as late as 1:15 PM on the current day … and so much more!
We will begin using SDM for dismissal on Thursday, July 29, 2021. You will receive a welcome email. The email from SDM will contain important instructions and your personal login credentials. Once you receive your credentials, please use them to log into the School Dismissal system so that you can begin to familiarize yourself with it and set up your child’s default dismissal and routine. Please note, the system has been defaulted to what you selected during registration (bus/car rider). If you have not registered, it will default to bus rider.
Please contact the front office at 317-326-3121 if you have any questions or problems setting up your child’s default dismissal or making daily changes.
