UNSTOPPABLE!

Duff Elementary . . . No Ordinary Family

Spring Break 2021 has come to a close and we are very thankful to be returning to school! We hope you and your family enjoyed the beautiful weather, the extra family outings and time to adapt to Daylight Savings Time. Thank you to everyone who participated in Duff's Reading Under the Stars and Virtual Open House celebrating your child's accomplishments and hard work and hopefully learning something new about your child's classroom. Remember to submit your Google form for a chance to win one of the reading baskets. Another huge SHOUT OUT to the wonderful Duff PTA for another successful silent auction with so many amazing deals.

There are 10 weeks remaining until summer break and they are going to be busy! It begins with spring picture day on Thursday, March 25th. Virtual learners will receive a link through Class Dojo to sign up for a time to have their picture taken on campus. These pictures will be used for the yearbook and we would love to have all of our students represented. Please be sure to read the information below about picture day details.

april 1st is an asynchronous learning day. all students will work virtually and complete assignments in canvas/seesaw. Attendance will be taken. april 2nd is a Student/staff holiday.

COVID Safety reminders

  • Please complete the Wellness Survey each morning before bringing your child to school. https://www.aisd.net/duff-elementary/
  • If your child is quarantined due to an extracurricular activity please call the school (682.867.2000) and let us know your student will be virtual for the quarantine time.

we need your help

Your help is needed in the front circle drive to help with a safety concern. We must let busses access the inside lane of the circle drive to load and unload students. Please allow school busses to have priority access to enter the drive. We are making every effort to efficiently get students on and off busses to keep the flow in the driveway running smoothly. In addition, please do not drive down the center of the circle drive. We appreciate you waiting patiently for the cars in front of you to move through the line. If you walk up to meet your child, please use the sidewalk and please do not walk through the driveways. Your adherence to these protocols will help keep safety a priority.

Important reminders

  • Please complete the wellness survey each day before your child arrives at school. https://www.aisd.net/duff-elementary/
  • If you arrive to drop your student off in the circle drive or back parking lot and the doors are closed, students will need to enter the front door and have the temperature taken when they enter.
  • Have your child ready to exit the car quickly with their backpack, water bottle, and mask each morning.

Attendance matters

  • Virtual Learners: Attending daily Zooms and completing required work is the best way to experience the online learning environment and is crucial to make adequate progress. In order to be counted present, you must attend Zoom(s) and/or complete all daily work.
  • Face-to-Face Learners: We have been thankful to have 300+ face-to-face learners each day. When students need to miss school due to illness, quarantine, or appointments, they may choose to attend class via Zoom and/or complete required work in Canvas/Seesaw and be counted present.
  • Administration will reach out after 3 unexcused absences to discuss a plan to improve attendance. When a student has 5 unexcused absences, the truancy officer is notified.
  • Parents will complete a Change for Instructional Setting Request form when students are required to be quarantined. (please see link below)
  • We look forward to the day when we have 100% of our students as face-to-face learners where we can give them our very best and know they are well prepared.
  • The student code of conduct book discusses the Texas Attendance Law in more detail. https://www.aisd.net/district/departments/administration/student-behavioral-support-systems/
