MODERN ART IN THE HEART by linda alexopoulou & ruzica vukelic

The core activity of the ZEPTER MUSEUM is to collect systematically, protect, study, exhibit and publish works of art. It is intended to gather together in one place the works and artists who can visualize the complex art scene in Serbia in the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the new millennium.

Activity description

  • Children in each school are divided into groups of three students each.
  • Children visit the museum using the virtual tour from the museum's site.
  • Each group chooses a work of art, what makes the biggest impression.
  • (If a group chooses the same work of art with another, we suggest children to make a second choice.)
  • The modern art is not easily understood by children, so we ask them to describe what they see, shaping a short fictional story.
  • Then we exchange the artwork. The children of each school get the artwork of the other school.
  • Each group must now make a story about the new artwork.
  • Teachers collect stories and each group sees how the children of the other school, realized the same work of art.
  • Finally, the children of each group copy the style of the painter and create their own artwork.
  • The original artwork, along with the two stories and children's drawings, is converted into an electronic book.
