Photo Credit: I took a picture of this sculpture entitled "II-06-94" made by Nancy Graves
When I first strolled by this sculpture, I at first did not fully grasp what is was meant to represent, nor did I understand the creators intent. This piece is very strange to say the least, with an interesting combination of different textures of metals and glass, distorted to create the shape of stars and music notes, joined with abstract lines and shapes. Seeing it in person helped me inspect the piece from different angles, analyze the textures and groves with a closer eye, and gave me a helpful edge on what the artist wanted to communicate through this piece. All in all the artwork gave me an overwhelming and quizzical effect and, if my interpretation is correct, I think Graves was trying to convey the chaoticness and beauty of music in one structure, and I think she achieved so by constructing this abstract yet beautiful piece.
